Happy Birthday Narelle

This card is for Narelle Hodges as part of the Birthday Card Swap I joined. It's a great group of demonstrators who have joined up together to send each other a handmade card on our birthdays.
I used an old Mojo Monday sketch for this card, any time I'm stuck for an idea I go back through their archives and use a sketch that I didn't get the chance to use during the week it was current.
The Rose has crystal effects over the red highlighted areas to give it some dimension. I dyed the Fleurette with a few drops of Riding Hood Red reinker and a few drops of water from my aquapainter in the lid of the inkpad. I then used my Aquapainter to "paint" the fleurette.
Stamps: A Rose is A Rose, Happy Everything
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss
Cardstock: Bella Rose DSP, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Accessories: Fleurettes II, Build-a-Brad, Crystal Effects

Punches: Scallop, 1 3/8" & 1/3" Circle Punches, Corner Rounder Punch

Happy Birthday Mikey & Jayden!

I had 2 5 year old boy cards to make and since both the boys have similar personalities and they don't know each other I thought that I could kill 2 birds with one stone and make them matching cards. I didn't realise until afterwards that Michael's card looks like the masterchef logo, but oh well!
I realised after that i think the chipboard i used is retired, but you could easily use any other chipboard for the same design.
Stamps: Happy Everything
Ink: Pacific Point
Cardstock: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Good Morning Sunshine DSP
Accessories: Simon Lower On Board,

Advent Calender of Cards Day 6

These 3 are probably 3 of my favourite cards from the 35 for $35 set. So simple and clean on the white background.
Hope your Christmas shopping is getting closer to finished... We have the $10 limit with Justin's family again and since I hate giving cheapie discount store crap or chocolates it means alot of handmade gifts so I'm busy trying to see what I can come up with.
Anyway have a great day!

Sisterhood of Scrap Sketch Saturday - Happy Birthday

ETA: I found this in my scheduled list set up for August for some reason so I've set it up to publish this week, but there is now a newer sketch available too.

Here is my card for Sisterhood of Scrap's Sketch Saturday this week. The sketch was very similar to the layout sketch from last week, but instead of taking the grid pattern literally this time I chose to just use a textured piece made using my brand new bigshot & cuttlebug folder. (I have some more dies coming so expect to see alot of diecutting lol).
I figured seeing as I had already gone non-SU! (I do try to keep my blog SU! only, but every now and then i find myself straying lol) with the thickers and the cuttlebug folder then I may as well go all the way and use this Cakeabella image that was RAK'd to me by the lovely Marcia.
I coloured Bella using my blender pen & ink pads for the in colours, then my SW Markers for the rest of her. I wanted Bella to be a blonde, but I thought she needed to be a more natural blonde with highlights instead of just the one colour, so I started out with Barely banana, then using the fine end of my markers, I added some So Saffron and Summer Sun. I also added just a hint of Rose Red as any good home chef never cooks without her 'lippy' on right? hehe
SU! Stamps: Happy Everything
Stamping Bella Stamp: Cakeabella
Ink: Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Blush Blossom, Barely Banana, Summer Sun, So Saffron, Rose Red
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Accessories: Thickers, Scallop Square Punch, Silver Brad, Blender Pen
Cuttlebug Folder: Divine Swirl

Makeesha's Colour Challenge #10 - Happy Birthday

My entry for Makeesha's colour challenge. It's not my favourite card that I've made lately but I had a day where I just needed to make something and Keesh's challenge was there waiting for me so in a way it's perfect...
I think what this card needed was some patterned paper and I had nothing in my stash that worked in with the challenge. I also lost a few background stamps in the last catalogue so I think I need to buy a few more for days like this when I don't have DSP to match but the card needs a bit of extra oomph...
The rose was done with some plain old watercolouring but I used just the one colour and built it up slowly to get that 5th Avenue Floral technique look without the drying time. Also because I was lazy (and I already had the confetti cream out from the circle) I coloured on confetti cream. It doesn't work as well as watercolour paper but it does the trick in a pinch (holds ALOT more water without buckling than normal whisper white or very vanilla).
Stamps: 5th Avenue Floral, Happy Everything
Ink: Black Stazon, Mellow Moss
Watercolouring: Inkpad with Aquapainter; Rose Red
Cardstock: Confetti Cream, Rose Red, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke
Accessories: 1/2" Circle punch, Jumbo Brads

5 petal punch flower

When i saw this tutorial I knew I had to give it a go. I decided that rather than sponging the flowers I would use the Sale-A-Bration polka dot punches flower.
I'll be demonstrating this technique to my Terrific Techniques girls on Saturday as it is our Punch Art 101 class.
Stamps: Happy Everything, Polka Dot Punches
Ink: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink
Cardstock: Berry Bliss, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
Accessories: Fairy Tale Ribbon Originals, Fire Rhinestone Brad, 5 petal punch, Spring Bouquet Punch

Happy Birthday Lisa

I made these for Lisa's birthday week before last, I had to put off posting this as she had gone away and I wanted to make sure she got them before I posted them here. I am loving the Summer Picnic DSP and I know she is too so I decided to use some of the new Spring Mini goodies. I'm a bit of a hoarder of my "precious's", (but I'm trying to be better, what's the point in having them and not using them?) & so is she so I know she'll appreciate the Hodge Podge, Die Cuts, Rub ons & DSP.
I've double-layered the Real Red Grosgrain & Striped grograin to get this funky looking bow, it was really easy, I just took a little extra care to not get them tangled. (If you want to know how to make a really good knot check out this tutorial by Kristina Werner - ever since I started following her method I get a perfect knot every time)
This is a little gift card holder I made, I got the instructions from Dawn's Stampin' Thoughts, but changed it around a little to make the scallop punch hold it closed instead of having a belly band.
Here is a pic of the Gift Card Holder open.

Stamps: Tart & Tangy, Happy Everything
Ink: Earth Elements & Bold Brights SW Markers, Real Red, Old Olive
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Real Red, Summer Picnic DSP
Accessories: Blooms Die-cuts, A Perfect Day Rubons, Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain, Real Red Striped Grosgrain, Real Red Gingham Ribbon, Styled Silver Hodge Podge, Scallop & 1 3/8" Circle Punch

Kwernerdesign.com - Colour Inspiration #17

This is my first entry for Kristina Werner's Colour Inspiration Challenges, For (I suppose 17 lol) weeks now I've admired the beautiful colour combos that she has used and I finally gave in and did one, normally I am so late that I don't bother but this time I realised I had all day today (plus some if you count the time difference) to finish it so I had no excuse.
I embossed, then watercoloured the berries from Oh So Lovely, using Ink Pads and my Aquapainter, but I wanted to build up some colour in the shadows and I haven't mastered the aquapainter well enough to get the look I wanted, so I used the fine tip of my SW Markers to build up the colour, I then lightly sponged some Regal Rose over the Whisper White and rubbed the edges in Rose Red.

Stamps: Oh So Lovely, Happy Everything
Ink: Rich Regals SW Markers, Soft Subtles SW Markers, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Versamark
Cardstock: Rose Red, Sage Shadow, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Accessories: Black EDP, Regal Rose 5/8" Grosgrain
