Happy Birthday Nana Mavis

A quick birthday card for Justin's Nana using a mojo monday sketch. I love how simple it is.
You can see in this one how I have used the new 1 3/4" circle punch to frame the scallop circle:
Anyway, this is a prescheduled post and I can't think because I spent all last night up with the kids (only up to Jack once the rest was Charlotte grrr) so I'll keep this short.

Happy Stinkin' Birthday

This is the card I made for Justin's dad, it's not a manly man kind of card, but I really wanted to use the little skunk from Pun Fun as the last time they were in the US he picked himself up a Skunk Skin Fur Hat that he loves, so I thought it was appropriate. I man-ed it up by keeping black a prominent feature and colouring the flower with Brocade Blue.
The skunk actually has the saying "I stink you're sweet" but when I mounted this set I separated the sentiment from the image by double-mounting it on the end of the block. This way I have a bit more flexibility with how I use the stamps.

Strawberry Thank You

Another card using a resurrected stamp set (Hopefully I'll have new catalogue cards to show you soon). I love Tart & Tangy and was so happy to see it make the new catalogue! I was sad however to lose the Summer Picnic DSP that matched :( ... But I decided to make the best of a sad situation and use it as an opportunity to try out new colour combinations with the set. Before I had always just stuck with the DSP combo's of Bashful Blue, Real Red, Old Olive & Pumpkin Pie, so I thought with this card that I would soften it up and use Pretty and Pink with Certainly Celery for the strawberry and the rest just came from there.
To keep with the soft feel when I stamped the sentiment in Close to Cocoa I stamped off onto scratch paper first so that the colour wasn't as dark.

Playing with my new In Colours!!

This was the first card I made with the new In Colours Riding Hood Red & Pink Pirouette! They are absolutely adorable and I'm in love with them! I have more colour combos I want to play with but as soon as I saw these 2 colours IRL I had to put them together!
As alot the selection really wasn't my style I only preordered 1 stamp set (which I haven't used here, I have a specific project in mind for it later) so I was really limited in my stamp choice, but that will be rectified shortly after 1 April when I have full run of the new catalogue lol.

Terrific Techniques Challenge Card

At my terrific techniques class every month I give the girls a little something with the challenge to make a card, layout or 3-D item with what I gave them and bring it back as "show & tell" there's no winner & no obligation to take part but if they make something they get a Freddo frog or something else small as their prize.
This was the card I made for February's challenge of Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon & the ribbon buckle from Pewter Hodge Podge Hardware.

Sesame Street Card

I made this card for Amber, my friends little girl, we weren't able to go to her birthday party and we dropped off a present but as her birthday was the middle of the Show Week I didn't have the chance to make a card until now. It is CASE'd from this card by Heather Summers, a fantastic Stampin' Up! Demo in Canada, and as soon as I saw it 'I thought I had to make one of those!' but by the time I got a chance to sit down and play with my punches I have seen so many pop up around the place, but I will give credit to Heather since that is where I saw it first. However I did get the cookie idea from this card by Karen Thomas.

I deliberately didn't look at either of these cards immediately before making it so that the card my own so some of the mouths look a little off as they used circles an I used ovals, I did add the eyelids on Big Bird.

This card uses too many punches to count, so I won't be giving a list of supplies used like I normally do but all supplies are SU! and I used the Happy Thoughts & Best Friends Numbers stamp sets.

It really rattles!

I saw this card last night and thought it was so cute I had to show Justin, when he saw it he said it would be cool if it really rattled. As soon as he said that I thought of a Shaker Card and had to have a go!

I have used vellum for the window as I had no overhead transperancy sheets and couldn't wait to have a go. To give the card 'rattle' I used small pink seed beads instead of sand or glitter. This was my first attempt at a Shaker card and I really recommend that if you haven't had a go at a shaker card to try something bigger before you try something this fiddly.
